The Arched Lattice Window mirror 200 x 120cm is the most decorative mirror we sell at its largest size: a 60cm-radius semicircle with a fine grid of welded bars fanning under it, over 2.4 square metres of 4mm safety-backed glass, matt black or satin gold, 38.5kg, £399.95. On a plain two-metre wall it is a chapel window and furnishes the room by itself; on a patterned wall or in a hall full of coats it is too much, and this page says which is which. It needs 2.2m of clear wall, a batten, a two-person delivery and a measured route in.

Hanging hardware fitted; hang it from a batten, studs or masonry, or lean it with a strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, replaced free if it arrives damaged.

Product information

Description, dimensions, delivery and returns

Arched Lattice Window Full Length Mirror 200 x 120cm, available in Black, Gold. 4mm silver-backed glass with a reinforced safety backing in a powder-coated steel frame, about 38.5kg. Hang it with the fitted hardware or lean it with an anti-tip strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, delivered in two to seven working days; two-person delivery on the largest sizes.

Hanging and leaning

The hanging hardware is fitted to the back; use wall plugs and screws to suit your wall. To lean it, stand it at a slight angle and fit an anti-tip strap, especially with children or pets about. At 38.5kg this needs solid fixings into brick, block or a timber stud, not plasterboard anchors alone. Step by step: how to hang a heavy mirror and how to secure a leaning mirror.

Glass and safety

4mm backed glass with a reinforced safety backing. If the mirror is knocked hard enough to crack, the backing holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall. Glass is still glass, so it can break, but it fails safely. Why thickness matters: mirror glass thickness explained.

Two metres of arched lattice: when it is right and when it is too much

Right: a plain wall two metres high and more with nothing else on it, in a room with no other pattern. A living room end wall opposite the window, a landing or stairwell wall, a dressing room where the mirror is the only ornament. Here the arch takes the corner out of the wall, the fine lattice gives the eye a whole chapel window's worth of rhythm, and 2.4 square metres of glass doubles the room's light while the frame does the job a large painting would have done. At this size the small panes have the glass area to read as a window rather than a screen, which is the thing the 150 x 60cm version cannot quite manage in a small room.

Too much for a 200 x 120 mirror this ornate: patterned wallpaper, where two patterns fight; a room with a leaded window or a trellis already, where one is a theme and two is a tic; an entrance hall full of coats, where a fine lattice turns the reflection into a mosaic and the plain Window Pane 200 x 120cm keeps it calm; and any room under 4m long or with coving below 2.2m. The Arched Window 200 x 120cm is the same arch over a few large panes at the same price for those rooms, and the Gentle Arch 200 x 120cm has no bars at all.

38.5kg, a 60cm arch and 2.2m of wall

On a 120cm frame the semicircle has a 60cm radius and the curve starts 60cm below the top; hung with the bottom edge 20cm up, a 200cm mirror has its top at 220cm and the curve begins at 160cm, below the top of a tall person's head but at the sides, where at head height the glass is still 113cm wide. Float glass weighs 2.5kg per square metre per millimetre, so the sheet is 24kg and the welded frame, the fanned lattice and the backing are the other 14.5kg. The wall needs 2.2m clear of coving, rails and fittings when hung and 2.1m when leant, and the carton, a little over 200 x 120cm on its long edge, has to clear the front door, any right angle and the half landing; the guide to moving a large mirror has the figures.

Hanging 38.5kg of arched lattice

A batten on any wall: timber screwed across two studs or into brick, levelled twice, with the mirror's two fitted hanging points dropping onto it; brick or block otherwise takes two nylon plugs and screws rated above 38.5kg, dot-and-dab wants the batten on long frame fixings through to the masonry, and cavity anchors are never an option. Measure from the hardware to the floor, never from the top of the arch, which sits 60cm or more above the hanging points. A two-metre lattice shows half a degree of lean from the next room, so hang with two people lifting from the outer frame and never the bars, a third guiding, hook both points on, and check the lowest straight bar before tightening. The hanging guide covers each wall and the full length wall mirror page the weight tables.

Leaning is for a dressing room or a living-room wall: felt pads under the base, about 24cm out, and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top fitted before anyone leaves the room, because 38.5kg on a 20mm frame goes rather than wobbles if knocked. Never a hall. The securing guide covers the strap.

Black or gold on a two-metre arched lattice

A black arched lattice mirror two metres tall is a leaded chapel window in a dark frame and at its best on white, pale grey and sage, where it adds architecture and hides the fingerprints a frame with this many edges collects; it vanishes on navy. A gold arched lattice mirror in satin champagne-brass is a gilded screen, warming navy, sage and cream and drifting to warm silver on pure white, and at this size it is the most ornamental object in any room it enters, right for a dressing room in warm whites and linens and wrong for a room that wants to look like a room. Same welded steel, same powder coat, same £399.95; the two-tone black frame with gold bars is made at 180 x 105cm only. The black full length mirror and gold full length mirror pages make each case, and the window mirror page has all 14 window designs and sizes.

Cleaning the busiest two metres we sell

Budget a quarter of an hour. A dry microfibre cloth lifts dust from glass and bars; for marks, a cloth dampened with glass cleaner and folded over a finger does each pane on its own, with a small cloth for the fanned panes under the arch. Spraying the whole face pools liquid at the bar edges and runs it into the join where the backing lives, which is how edge spotting starts. Nothing abrasive on the powder coat; a touch-up pen for a scratch through it. The cleaning guide has the streak-free method.

Compared with the Arched Window 200, the Lattice Window 200 and the smaller sizes

Same arch, plain grid: the Arched Window 200 x 120cm at 38kg and the same £399.95, for pattern and busy rooms. Same lattice, straight top: the Lattice Window 200 x 120cm at 39kg, the heaviest mirror we sell, for a dining room. Below two metres the Arched Lattice Window comes at 180 x 105cm with the two-tone option, at 180 x 90cm for a 90cm wall, and at 150 x 60cm for a hall or a gap. The large mirror page covers every 180 and 200cm mirror with door and stair clearances.

FAQ

Questions about this mirror

Is the Arched Lattice Window 200 x 120cm too much for my room?

On patterned walls, in a room with a leaded window or trellis already, in an entrance hall full of coats, or in any room under 4m long or with coving below 2.2m, yes. On a plain two-metre wall in a living room, landing or dressing room it is the most decorative mirror we sell and furnishes the wall by itself.

Does a 60cm-radius arch cut off the top of my head?

No. Hung with the bottom edge 20cm up the curve starts at 160cm, but your head reflects in the centre of the glass, where at 180cm up the semicircle is still 113cm wide. The two corners you lose are well to either side of anyone in front of it.

How do I hang 38.5kg of arched lattice level?

From a batten screwed across two studs or into brick, levelled twice, with the fitted hanging points dropping onto it; measure from the hardware, not the top of the arch; two people lifting from the outer frame and a third on stairs; check the lowest straight bar before tightening. No cavity anchors.

Arched Lattice Window or Arched Window at 200 x 120cm?

Same arch, same £399.95. The Arched Lattice doubles the bars for a chapel-window pattern on plain paint; the Arched Window has a few large panes and keeps two metres of reflection calm on pattern or in busy rooms. 38.5kg against 38kg.

Will it fit up my stairs?

The carton is a little over 200 x 120cm and travels on its long edge. The front door is rarely the problem; the half landing and the headroom over the stairs are. Measure them before ordering for an upstairs room, or plan a ground-floor one.

What happens if it arrives damaged?

Photograph the damage, the carton and the label and email us within 24 hours. A replacement is dispatched free and you keep the damaged one for disposal rather than posting glass back. Check every pane and every bar joint, including the fanned ones under the arch, on the day it arrives.
