The Lattice Window mirror 200 x 120cm is the heaviest mirror we sell, and that is the first thing to know about it: 39kg of welded steel, fine glazing bars and 2.4 square metres of 4mm safety-backed glass, in matt black or satin gold, £399.95. It is a leaded window two metres tall for a plain living-room or dining-room wall, where the small panes have the glass area to read as a window rather than a screen. It needs 2.2m of clear wall, a batten to hang from, a two-person delivery and a route in you have measured.

Hanging hardware fitted; hang it from a batten, studs or masonry, or lean it with a strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, replaced free if it arrives damaged.

Product information

Description, dimensions, delivery and returns

Lattice Window Full Length Mirror 200 x 120cm, available in Black, Gold. 4mm silver-backed glass with a reinforced safety backing in a powder-coated steel frame, about 39.0kg. Hang it with the fitted hardware or lean it with an anti-tip strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, delivered in two to seven working days; two-person delivery on the largest sizes.

Hanging and leaning

The hanging hardware is fitted to the back; use wall plugs and screws to suit your wall. To lean it, stand it at a slight angle and fit an anti-tip strap, especially with children or pets about. At 39kg this needs solid fixings into brick, block or a timber stud, not plasterboard anchors alone. Step by step: how to hang a heavy mirror and how to secure a leaning mirror.

Glass and safety

4mm backed glass with a reinforced safety backing. If the mirror is knocked hard enough to crack, the backing holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall. Glass is still glass, so it can break, but it fails safely. Why thickness matters: mirror glass thickness explained.

The heaviest mirror we sell, and what 39kg changes

Float glass weighs 2.5kg per square metre per millimetre, so the 200 x 120cm sheet is 24kg, and the welded frame, the backing and more glazing bars than any other mirror here add 15kg to that. Thirty-nine kilos changes everything downstream. It is a two-person delivery because it is over 180cm tall, and a three-person job if there are stairs. It hangs from a batten, not from two screw heads. It does not lean in a hall or anywhere people carry things. And the carton, a little over 200 x 120cm on its long edge, has to get through the front door, round any right angle and over the half landing before any of that matters; the guide to moving a large mirror has the clearances and the carry.

What you get for it is the fine lattice at the one size where it reads as a window rather than a screen. At 150 x 60cm the small panes can feel busy; at two metres the Lattice Window full length mirror has 2.4 square metres for the pattern to spread across, and on a plain wall it is a leaded window into a brighter room. The plain-grid alternative at the same size and price is the Window Pane 200 x 120cm, half a kilo lighter, for an entrance hall facing clutter or a room with pattern on the walls.

Where a two-metre lattice goes, and where it does not

A living room with a clear wall opposite the window, where the grid doubles the daylight and the room reads deeper. A dining room, where candlelight in a lattice of small panes is the effect the window style was invented for. A dressing room where two people get ready with the room behind them. Not a bedroom under 4m long, where it reflects the bed and the Lattice Window 180 x 105cm at £319.95 does the job; not a hall full of coats, where a lattice turns the reflection into a mosaic and the Window Pane keeps it calm; not patterned wallpaper, where two patterns fight; not a wall with coving below 2.2m. A 200 x 120 mirror hung with the bottom edge 20cm up shows anyone to about 225cm, which is nobody's problem; the height is for the room.

Hanging 39kg: a batten on any wall

A batten is not optional at this weight. Timber screwed across two studs or into brick, levelled twice before the glass comes near it, with the mirror's two fitted hanging points dropping onto it, spreads 39kg along a length of wall instead of hanging it from two screw heads. Brick or block otherwise takes two nylon plugs and screws rated above 39kg into the brick; dot-and-dab wants the batten on long frame fixings through to the masonry; cavity anchors are never an option. A two-metre lattice shows half a degree of lean from the next room, so level the batten, hang with two people lifting from the outer frame and never the bars, a third guiding, hook both points on, and check the top bar before tightening. The hanging guide covers each wall and the full length wall mirror page the weight tables.

Leaning is for a dressing room or a living-room wall only: felt pads under the base, about 24cm out, and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top fitted before anyone leaves the room, because 39kg on a 20mm frame goes rather than wobbles if knocked. Never a hall. The securing guide covers the strap.

Black lattice or gold lattice at two metres

A black lattice mirror two metres tall is a leaded window in a dark frame: on white, pale grey and sage walls it adds a window's worth of light and architecture, and black hides the fingerprints a frame with this many edges collects. A gold lattice mirror in satin champagne-brass is a gilded screen, warming navy, sage and cream and drifting to warm silver on pure white, and at this size it is the most ornamental object in most rooms, right for a dining room with brass and wrong for a room that wants to look like a room. Same welded steel, same powder coat, same £399.95; the two-tone black frame with gold bars is made at 180 x 105cm only. The black full length mirror and gold full length mirror pages make each case, and the window mirror page has all 14 window designs and sizes.

Cleaning the busiest frame we sell

Two metres of fine lattice has more panes than anything else here, so budget ten minutes rather than one. A dry microfibre cloth lifts dust from glass and bars; for marks, a cloth dampened with glass cleaner and folded over a finger does each pane on its own. Spraying the whole face pools liquid at the bar edges and runs it into the join where the backing lives, which is how edge spotting starts. Nothing abrasive on the powder coat; a touch-up pen for a scratch through it. The cleaning guide has the streak-free method.

Compared with the other 200 x 120 windows and the smaller lattices

Four window designs share this size at £399.95: this fine grid at 39kg, the Window Pane at 38.5kg with a few large panes, the Arched Lattice Window at 38.5kg with the same lattice under a 60cm-radius arch, and the Arched Window at 38kg. Below two metres the Lattice Window comes at 180 x 105cm with the two-tone option, at 180 x 90cm for a 90cm wall, and at 150 x 60cm for a hall or a gap. The large mirror page covers every 180 and 200cm mirror with door and stair clearances.

Dispatched within one working day from UK stock and delivered in two to seven working days on a two-person service, to your door and into a ground-floor room where the route allows; free to mainland UK, offshore postcodes quoted by email. One carton: the mirror with its hanging hardware fitted and the safety backing behind the glass, no plugs, screws, batten or strap. Open it the day it arrives with the carton upright and someone steadying it, check every pane for a crack and every bar joint for movement, look at the frame corners for chips in the powder coat, and photograph anything wrong with the carton and the label within 24 hours; a replacement is dispatched free and the damaged one stays with you. Change of mind is 14 days, unused and in its packaging, at your carriage cost, which at 39kg is real money and the honest reason to measure the wall and the stairs first. FAQ

Questions about this mirror

How heavy is the Lattice Window 200 x 120cm?

39kg, the heaviest mirror we sell: 24kg of 4mm glass and 15kg of welded frame, glazing bars and backing. It comes on a two-person delivery, hangs from a batten rather than two screw heads, and wants a third person on stairs.

How do I hang 39kg?

From a batten screwed across two studs or into brick, levelled twice, with the fitted hanging points dropping onto it. Two people lifting from the outer frame, never the bars, and a third guiding; check the top bar before tightening. Cavity anchors are never an option.

Lattice Window or Window Pane at 200 x 120cm?

Lattice for a plain-walled living or dining room, where the fine grid has two metres to read as a leaded window. Window Pane, half a kilo lighter at the same price, for an entrance hall facing coats and shoes or a room with patterned walls, where a few large panes keep the reflection calm.

Will it fit up my stairs?

The carton is a little over 200 x 120cm and travels on its long edge. The front door is rarely the problem; the half landing and the headroom over the stairs are. Measure them before ordering for an upstairs room, or plan a ground-floor one.

Can a 39kg mirror lean?

In a dressing room or against a living-room wall, with felt pads under the base and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top fitted before anyone leaves the room; 39kg on a 20mm frame goes rather than wobbles if knocked. Never in a hall. The strap is not in the box.

What happens if it arrives damaged?

Photograph the damage, the carton and the label and email us within 24 hours. A replacement is dispatched free and you keep the damaged one for disposal rather than posting glass back. Check every pane and bar joint on the day it arrives.
