The Arched Window mirror 200 x 120cm is a chapel window two metres tall: a 60cm-radius semicircle with the bars fanning under it, over a plain grid of large panes and 2.4 square metres of 4mm safety-backed glass, welded steel in matt black or satin gold, 38kg, £399.95. The arch makes it the version for a landing, a stairwell wall or a bedroom with the height to carry a curve; the plain grid keeps two metres of reflection calm. It needs 2.2m of clear wall, a batten, a two-person delivery and a measured route in.

Hanging hardware fitted; hang it from a batten, studs or masonry, or lean it with a strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, replaced free if it arrives damaged.

Product information

Description, dimensions, delivery and returns

Arched Window Full Length Mirror 200 x 120cm, available in Black, Gold. 4mm silver-backed glass with a reinforced safety backing in a powder-coated steel frame, about 38.0kg. Hang it with the fitted hardware or lean it with an anti-tip strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, delivered in two to seven working days; two-person delivery on the largest sizes.

Hanging and leaning

The hanging hardware is fitted to the back; use wall plugs and screws to suit your wall. To lean it, stand it at a slight angle and fit an anti-tip strap, especially with children or pets about. At 38kg this needs solid fixings into brick, block or a timber stud, not plasterboard anchors alone. Step by step: how to hang a heavy mirror and how to secure a leaning mirror.

Glass and safety

4mm backed glass with a reinforced safety backing. If the mirror is knocked hard enough to crack, the backing holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall. Glass is still glass, so it can break, but it fails safely. Why thickness matters: mirror glass thickness explained.

A two-metre arched window: the geometry and the rooms

On a 120cm frame the semicircle has a 60cm radius, so the curve begins 60cm below the top edge and the bars above that point fan to follow it; below, the grid is the plain, large-paned pattern of a factory window. Hung with the bottom edge 20cm off the floor, a 200cm mirror has its top at 220cm and this one's curve starts at 160cm, which is below the top of a tall person's head, so the geometry is worth saying: your head reflects in the centre of the glass, where at 180cm up the arch is still 113cm wide, and the two corners you lose sit well to either side of anyone standing in front of it. What you get is a window with a curved head the size of a chapel door, which on a landing wall reads as a window into the roof, in a stairwell as the thing the staircase was built around, and in a bedroom over 4m long as the piece on the wall of its own. The finer-grid version is the Arched Lattice Window 200 x 120cm at the same price; the straight-topped plain grid is the Window Pane 200 x 120cm.

Nobody buys a 200 x 120 mirror for height; a 180cm mirror already shows anyone to about 205cm. The two metres are for the wall, and if the wall has coving, a picture rail or a fitting below 2.2m, the Arched Window 180 x 105cm at £369.95 is the one.

38kg, 2.4 square metres, 2.2m of wall

Float glass weighs 2.5kg per square metre per millimetre, so the sheet in a 200cm mirror this wide is 24kg and the welded frame, the fanned bars and the backing are the other 14kg. Hung with the bottom edge 20cm up the top of the glass is at 220cm, so the wall needs 2.2m clear of coving, rails and fittings; leant at seven degrees the top sits at about 218cm and the base 24cm out. The carton, a little over 200 x 120cm on its long edge, has to clear the front door, any right angle and the half landing; the guide to moving a large mirror has the figures and the carry.

Hanging 38kg of arched grid: batten, hardware not arch, bars level

Three things. A batten, on any wall: timber screwed across two studs or into brick, levelled twice, with the mirror's two fitted hanging points dropping onto it; brick or block otherwise takes two nylon plugs and screws rated above 38kg, dot-and-dab wants the batten on long frame fixings through to the masonry, and cavity anchors are never an option. The hardware, not the arch: the hanging points sit 60cm or more below the top of the curve, so measure from the hardware to the floor or the mirror lands far higher than planned. And the bars: a two-metre grid shows half a degree of lean from the next room, so hang with two people lifting from the outer frame and never the bars, a third guiding, and check the lowest straight bar before tightening. The hanging guide covers each wall and the full length wall mirror page the weight tables.

Leaning is for a bedroom or dressing room with the height to spare: felt pads under the base, about 24cm out, and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top fitted before anyone leaves the room, because 38kg on a 20mm frame goes rather than wobbles if knocked. Never a hall. The securing guide covers the strap.

Black arched window or gold arched window at two metres

A black arched window mirror two metres tall is the chapel window in a dark frame: crisp on white, pale grey and sage, the finish that reads as architecture and hides fingerprints, the one that vanishes on navy. A gold arched window mirror in satin champagne-brass is a gilded arch before anything is reflected in it, warming navy, sage and cream and drifting to warm silver on pure white, and at this size it wants a plain wall and a room with the scale to carry it. Same welded steel, same powder coat, same £399.95; the two-tone black frame with gold bars is made at 180 x 105cm only. The black full length mirror and gold full length mirror pages make each case; the window mirror page has all 14 window designs and sizes, and the arch mirror page the plain-glass arches.

Compared with the Arched Lattice 200, the Window Pane 200 and the 180s

Same arch, finer grid: the Arched Lattice Window 200 x 120cm at 38.5kg and the same £399.95, for plain paint. Same plain grid, straight top: the Window Pane 200 x 120cm at 38.5kg, for an entrance hall. No bars under a 60cm semicircle: the Arched 200 x 120cm at 33.2kg. Below two metres the Arched Window comes at 180 x 105cm with the two-tone option and at 180 x 90cm for a 90cm wall. The large mirror page covers every 180 and 200cm mirror with clearances.

FAQ

Questions about this mirror

Does a 60cm-radius arch cut off the top of my head?

No. Hung with the bottom edge 20cm up the curve starts at 160cm, but your head reflects in the centre of the glass, where at 180cm up the semicircle is still 113cm wide. The two corners you lose are well to either side of anyone in front of it.

How do I hang 38kg of arched grid?

From a batten screwed across two studs or into brick, levelled twice, with the fitted hanging points dropping onto it; measure from the hardware, which sits 60cm below the top of the arch; two people lifting from the outer frame and a third on stairs; check the lowest straight bar before tightening. No cavity anchors.

Arched Window or Arched Lattice Window at 200 x 120cm?

Same arch, same price. The Arched Window has a few large panes and keeps two metres of reflection calm, for a landing or a stairwell with pattern or clutter in view; the Arched Lattice doubles the bars for a chapel-window pattern on plain paint. 38kg against 38.5kg.

Which rooms can take a two-metre arched window mirror?

A landing or stairwell wall, where it reads as a window into the roof; a bedroom over 4m long on a wall of its own; a living room with the height. It needs 2.2m clear of coving and fittings. Not a hall as a leaner, and not a room with a picture rail below 2.2m.

Will it fit up my stairs?

The carton is a little over 200 x 120cm and travels on its long edge. The front door is rarely the problem; the half landing and the headroom over the stairs are. Measure them before ordering for an upstairs room, or plan a ground-floor one.

What happens if it arrives damaged?

Photograph the damage, the carton and the label and email us within 24 hours. A replacement is dispatched free and you keep the damaged one for disposal rather than posting glass back. Check every pane and bar joint, including the fanned ones under the arch, on the day it arrives.
