The Arched Lattice Window mirror 180 x 105cm is the most decorative mirror we sell at the width that fits two people: a 52.5cm-radius semicircle with a fine grid of welded bars fanning to follow it, over 1.89 square metres of 4mm safety-backed glass, 31kg, £369.95, in matt black, satin gold, or a black frame with gold bars. On a plain wall it furnishes the room by itself; on a patterned wall it is a fight, and this page says so.

Hanging hardware fitted; hang it from two fixings into studs or masonry, or lean it with a strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, two-person delivery, replaced free if it arrives damaged.

Product information

Description, dimensions, delivery and returns

Arched Lattice Window Full Length Mirror 180 x 105cm, available in Black, Gold, Black & Gold. 4mm silver-backed glass with a reinforced safety backing in a powder-coated steel frame, about 31.0kg. Hang it with the fitted hardware or lean it with an anti-tip strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, delivered in two to seven working days; two-person delivery on the largest sizes.

Hanging and leaning

The hanging hardware is fitted to the back; use wall plugs and screws to suit your wall. To lean it, stand it at a slight angle and fit an anti-tip strap, especially with children or pets about. At 31kg this needs solid fixings into brick, block or a timber stud, not plasterboard anchors alone. Step by step: how to hang a heavy mirror and how to secure a leaning mirror.

Glass and safety

4mm backed glass with a reinforced safety backing. If the mirror is knocked hard enough to crack, the backing holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall. Glass is still glass, so it can break, but it fails safely. Why thickness matters: mirror glass thickness explained.

The most decorative mirror in the range: when that is right

Right when the wall has nothing else on it and the room has no other pattern: a landing, a bedroom in plain paint over 3.5m long, a dressing room where the mirror is the only ornament, a living room wall opposite a window. Here the arch takes the corner out of the wall, the lattice gives the eye a chapel window's worth of rhythm, and the 105cm width shows two people side by side while the whole thing does the job a large painting would have done. Wrong when the wallpaper has a pattern, when the room already has a leaded window or a trellis, or when the mirror faces a rack of coats, where the fine grid turns the reflection into a mosaic. For those rooms the Arched Window 180 x 105cm at the same price has the same arch over a few large panes and keeps the reflection calm, and the Gentle Arch 180 x 105cm at £60 less has no bars at all.

180 x 105cm: coverage, weight and the two-tone

A 180 x 105 mirror hung with its bottom edge 20cm off the floor is a 180cm mirror topping out at 200cm; it shows anyone to about 205cm head to toe and two people square to the glass, and the 52.5cm-radius curve starts at 147.5cm, which is below the top of a tall person's head but at the sides, where at head height the glass is still 82cm wide. It weighs 31kg, 18.9kg of which is the 4mm glass, so it is a two-person delivery and a two-person hang on studs, a batten or masonry. The 105cm size brings the third finish, a matt black frame with satin gold bars, which on a lattice this fine is a lot of gold thread in a dark frame; it is the version for a dark landing or a navy bedroom, and the plain black and plain gold are the calmer two.

Hanging 31kg of arched lattice

Measure from the two fitted hanging points to the floor, never from the top of the arch, which sits 52.5cm above them; mark both points with a level, because a lattice shows half a degree of lean in every horizontal bar; hang with two people lifting from the outer frame and never the bars; hook both points on before anyone lets go; check the lowest straight bar before tightening. At 31kg the fixing goes into something solid, and a batten across two studs or into brick, levelled before the glass arrives, is the method we would use on any wall. Two nylon plugs and screws rated above 31kg into brick also work; dot-and-dab wants long frame fixings through to the masonry; cavity anchors are not an option. The hanging guide covers each wall and the full length wall mirror page the weight tables.

Leaning is for a bedroom or dressing room: felt pads under the base, about 20cm out for five to eight degrees, and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top fitted before anyone leaves the room; a slim window frame has little footprint and 31kg that goes over is a serious accident. Not in a hall. The securing guide covers the strap, the cable and the L-bracket.

Black, gold or black with gold bars on a fine arched lattice

A black arched lattice mirror reads as a leaded chapel window in a dark frame and is at its best on white, pale grey and sage, where it adds architecture and hides the fingerprints a frame with this many edges collects; it vanishes on navy. A gold arched lattice mirror in satin champagne-brass is a gilded screen, warming navy, sage and cream and drifting to warm silver on pure white, the one for a bedroom in warm whites and linens. The two-tone puts gold thread through a black frame: it holds its edge on a dark wall and glows inside, and on a lattice this fine it is the most ornamental thing in the range, so pick it for a dark landing or a navy bedroom and the plain finishes for everywhere else. Same welded steel, same powder coat, same £369.95. The black full length mirror and gold full length mirror pages make each case, and the window mirror page has all 14 window designs and sizes.

Cleaning the busiest frame below 200cm

Budget ten minutes rather than one. A dry microfibre cloth lifts dust from glass and bars; for marks, a cloth dampened with glass cleaner and folded over a finger does each pane on its own, with a small cloth for the fanned panes under the arch, and on the two-tone keep the gold bars dry so the finish stays even. Spraying the whole face pools liquid at the bar edges and runs it into the join where the backing lives. Nothing abrasive on the powder coat; a touch-up pen in the right colour for a scratch. The cleaning guide has the streak-free method.

Compared with the Arched Window, the Lattice Window and the other sizes

Same arch and finishes, plain grid: the Arched Window 180 x 105cm at 30kg and the same £369.95, for pattern and busy rooms. Same lattice, straight top: the Lattice Window 180 x 105cm at 31.8kg and £319.95, for a dining room. Other sizes of this design: the compact 150 x 60cm at 17.2kg and £229.95; the 180 x 90cm at 27.5kg and £339.95 for one person on a 90cm wall; and the 200 x 120cm at 38.5kg and £399.95 for a wall that wants a whole chapel window and has 2.2m to give it.

Two-person delivery, arrival and returns

Dispatched within one working day from UK stock and delivered in two to seven working days on a two-person service, to your door and into a ground-floor room where the route allows; free to mainland UK, offshore postcodes quoted by email. The carton is a little over 105cm wide and travels on its long edge, so measure the half landing and stair headroom for an upstairs room; the guide to moving a large mirror covers the carry. One carton: the mirror with its hanging hardware fitted and the safety backing behind the glass, no plugs, screws, batten or strap. Open it the day it arrives with the carton upright and someone steadying it, check every pane for a crack and every bar joint for movement, including the fanned joints under the arch, and photograph anything wrong with the carton and the label within 24 hours; a replacement is dispatched free and the damaged one stays with you. Change of mind is 14 days, unused and in its packaging, at your carriage cost. The delivery and returns pages have the detail, and every mirror we sell is on the full length mirrors page.

FAQ

Questions about this mirror

Is the Arched Lattice Window 180 x 105cm too much for a bedroom?

On patterned walls or in a room with a leaded window or trellis already, yes; the lattice fights the pattern and the Arched Window or Gentle Arch at this size is the calmer buy. On plain paint in a room over 3.5m long it is the most decorative mirror we sell and furnishes the wall by itself.

What is the black and gold finish on this mirror?

A matt black outer frame with satin champagne-gold bars, fanning under the arch. On a lattice this fine it is the most ornamental finish in the range, right for a dark landing or a navy bedroom; the plain black and plain gold are calmer. Same £369.95.

Does the arch cut off the top of my head?

No. Hung with the bottom edge 20cm up, the curve starts at 147.5cm but your head reflects in the centre of the glass, where at 180cm up the arch is still 82cm wide. You lose two corners above and beside anyone's head. It shows anyone to about 205cm.

How do I hang 31kg with all those bars level?

Measure from the hanging points, not the top of the arch; mark both with a level; hang from a batten across two studs or into brick, or two rated plugs and screws into brick; two people lifting from the outer frame; check the lowest straight bar before tightening. No cavity anchors.

Can it lean?

In a bedroom or dressing room, with felt pads under the base and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top fitted before anyone leaves the room. Thirty-one kilos on a slim frame goes rather than wobbles if knocked; not in a hall. The strap is not in the box.

What happens if it arrives damaged?

Photograph the damage, the carton and the label and email us within 24 hours. A replacement is dispatched free and you keep the damaged one for disposal rather than posting glass back. Check every pane and every bar joint, including the fanned ones under the arch, on the day it arrives.
