This arched full length mirror 200 x 120cm carries the biggest curve we make: a 60cm-radius semicircle over 2.4 square metres of 4mm safety-backed glass, slim welded steel in matt black or satin gold, 33.2kg, £399.95. It is a doorway-sized arch for a plain wall, and because a 180cm mirror already shows anyone head to toe, the two metres are for the room. It needs 2.2m of clear wall when hung, a two-person delivery and a route in you have measured.

Hanging hardware fitted; hang it from a batten, studs or masonry, or lean it with a strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, replaced free if it arrives damaged.

Product information

Description, dimensions, delivery and returns

Arched Full Length Mirror 200 x 120cm, available in Black, Gold. 4mm silver-backed glass with a reinforced safety backing in a powder-coated steel frame, about 33.2kg. Hang it with the fitted hardware or lean it with an anti-tip strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, delivered in two to seven working days; two-person delivery on the largest sizes.

Hanging and leaning

The hanging hardware is fitted to the back; use wall plugs and screws to suit your wall. To lean it, stand it at a slight angle and fit an anti-tip strap, especially with children or pets about. At 33.2kg this needs solid fixings into brick, block or a timber stud, not plasterboard anchors alone. Step by step: how to hang a heavy mirror and how to secure a leaning mirror.

Glass and safety

4mm backed glass with a reinforced safety backing. If the mirror is knocked hard enough to crack, the backing holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall. Glass is still glass, so it can break, but it fails safely. Why thickness matters: mirror glass thickness explained.

A 60cm arch: the geometry of a doorway-sized mirror

On a 120cm frame the semicircle has a 60cm radius, so the curve begins 60cm below the top edge. Hung with the bottom edge 20cm off the floor, a 200cm mirror has its top at 220cm and this one's curve starts at 160cm, which is below the top of most adults' heads, so this is the one arch where the geometry is worth checking. Your head reflects in the centre of the glass about 5cm below the top of your head; a 185cm person is looking at the glass 180cm up, and at that height the semicircle is still 113cm wide, so the arch costs nobody anything but the two top corners, and those sit well to either side of anyone standing in front of it. What you get is a mirror the shape and size of a Georgian doorway, which on a plain living-room or dressing-room wall is as much architecture as mirror.

The shallow-curved version at this size is the Gentle Arch 200 x 120cm at 35.3kg and the same price, for a wall under coving or a room that is already busy; an arch mirror 200 x 120cm with a full semicircle wants a plain wall and a room that can carry a two-metre curve.

Who should buy two metres of arched mirror, and who should not

Buy it for a living room with a clear end wall or a chimney breast, where the semicircle becomes the room's architecture and the glass doubles the light; for a wide hallway hung flat facing the door, if the hall is good enough to have 1.2m of clear wall; for a dressing room where two people get ready with the whole room behind them. A 200 x 120 mirror hung at a 20cm bottom edge shows anyone to about 225cm, which is nobody's problem, and reflects 2.4 square metres of room, which is the point.

Do not buy it for a bedroom under 4m long, where it reflects the bed and the Arched 180 x 105cm at £309.95 does the job with a 52cm curve; for a wall with coving, a picture rail or a light fitting below 2.2m; for a plasterboard wall where you cannot fix a batten across two studs; or for an upstairs room reached by a stair you have not measured. The large mirror page has door and stair clearances and the room-by-room placement.

Hanging 33.2kg: batten first, hardware not arch, two people

Above 30kg, a batten is the method on any wall: timber screwed across two studs or into brick, levelled before the glass comes near it, with the mirror's two fitted hanging points dropping onto it. Where the points land on two studs, wood screws straight in work; brick or block otherwise takes two nylon plugs and screws rated above 33.2kg into the brick; dot-and-dab wants long frame fixings through to the masonry; cavity anchors are never an option. The hanging points sit 60cm or more below the top of the curve, so measure from the hardware to the floor and never from the top of the arch, or the mirror lands far higher than planned. Two people lift from the frame sides, a third guides on stairs, both points on before anyone lets go, level, then tighten. The hanging guide covers each wall and the full length wall mirror page the weight tables.

Leaning in a dressing room or living room is how a mirror this size usually lives: felt pads under the base, about 24cm out for seven degrees, and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top fitted before anyone leaves the room, because 33kg pulled forward is a serious accident. Never in a hall. The securing guide covers the strap and the cable.

Black or gold on a two-metre semicircle

A semicircle this size in a dark or warm line is the biggest shape in the room, so the finish decides what the room is. A black Arched mirror at 2.4 square metres is a doorway into a brighter room: crisp on white, pale grey and sage, hides fingerprints, vanishes on navy. A gold Arched mirror in satin champagne-brass is a gilded arch before anything is reflected in it; it glows on sage, navy and cream, drifts to warm silver on pure white, and wants a plain wall and a room with the scale to carry it. For most living rooms and halls, black; for a dressing room or a dark room that wants warmth, gold. Same steel, same £399.95. The black arch mirror and gold arch mirror pages have the eight arches in each finish, and the arch mirror page every arch together.

Compared with the Gentle Arch 200 and the smaller arches

The Gentle Arch 200 x 120cm is the same size and price with a shallow curve and 35.3kg; buy it under coving or in a busy room, buy this on a plain wall. The Arched 180 x 105cm at 26.5kg and £309.95 shows two people side by side with a 52.5cm curve and fits a wall most rooms have. The Arched 160 x 60cm at 14.7kg and £199.95 is the semicircle at bedroom size. The window designs at 200 x 120cm add bars for 38 to 39kg at the same price.

FAQ

Questions about this mirror

Does a 60cm-radius arch cut off the top of my head?

No. Hung with the bottom edge 20cm up the curve starts at 160cm, but your head reflects in the centre of the glass, where at 180cm up the semicircle is still 113cm wide. The two corners you lose are well to either side of anyone standing in front of it.

Why buy 200 x 120cm when 180cm already shows me head to toe?

For the room, not the person. The extra 0.5 square metres of glass reflects a window into a dark hall, doubles a living room's light, or shows two people with the whole dressing room behind them. If height is the reason, the 180 x 105cm does it for £90 less.

How do I hang 33.2kg?

From a batten screwed across two studs or into brick, levelled first, with the fitted hanging points dropping onto it; two people lifting from the frame sides and a third on stairs. Measure from the hardware, which sits 60cm below the top of the arch. Cavity anchors are never an option.

Will it fit up my stairs?

The carton is a little over 200 x 120cm and travels on its long edge. The front door is rarely the problem; the half landing and the headroom over the stairs are. Measure them before ordering for an upstairs room, or plan a ground-floor one.

Arched or Gentle Arch at 200 x 120cm?

Same size, same £399.95. The Arched is a 60cm-radius semicircle for a plain wall that wants a doorway-sized shape; the Gentle Arch is a shallow curve for a wall under coving or a busy room. This one is 33.2kg to the Gentle Arch's 35.3kg.

What happens if it arrives damaged?

Photograph the damage, the carton and the label and email us within 24 hours. A replacement is dispatched free and you keep the damaged one for disposal rather than posting glass back. Check the glass, the curve and the frame corners on the day it arrives.
