The Arched Lattice Window mirror 180 x 90cm is the most decorative mirror we sell: a true semicircle top with a fine grid of welded bars following the curve, over 1.62 square metres of 4mm safety-backed glass, matt black or satin gold, 27.5kg, £339.95. It is a chapel window for a plain wall, and on a plain wall it is wonderful; on a patterned one it is a fight. Hung with its bottom edge 20cm up it shows anyone to about 205cm.

Hanging hardware fitted; hang it from two fixings into studs or masonry, or lean it with a strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, two-person delivery, replaced free if it arrives damaged.

Product information

Description, dimensions, delivery and returns

Arched Lattice Window Full Length Mirror 180 x 90cm, available in Black, Gold. 4mm silver-backed glass with a reinforced safety backing in a powder-coated steel frame, about 27.5kg. Hang it with the fitted hardware or lean it with an anti-tip strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, delivered in two to seven working days; two-person delivery on the largest sizes.

Hanging and leaning

The hanging hardware is fitted to the back; use wall plugs and screws to suit your wall. To lean it, stand it at a slight angle and fit an anti-tip strap, especially with children or pets about. At 27.5kg this needs solid fixings into brick, block or a timber stud, not plasterboard anchors alone. Step by step: how to hang a heavy mirror and how to secure a leaning mirror.

Glass and safety

4mm backed glass with a reinforced safety backing. If the mirror is knocked hard enough to crack, the backing holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall. Glass is still glass, so it can break, but it fails safely. Why thickness matters: mirror glass thickness explained.

When the arched lattice is right, and when it is too much

Right: a plain wall that needs furnishing on its own. A landing with nothing on it, a bedroom in plain paint over 3m long, a living room wall facing a real window, a dressing room where the mirror is the only decoration. Here the arch takes the hard corner out of the wall and the lattice gives the eye a window's worth of rhythm, and the mirror does the job a picture would have done while still showing you head to toe. The Arched Lattice Window full length mirror at this size has the glass area for the fine grid to read as a window rather than a screen, which the compact 150 x 60cm does not quite manage in a small room.

Too much: patterned wallpaper, where two patterns fight and the plain Gentle Arch 180 x 90cm at £100 less wins; a hallway full of coats, where the lattice turns the reflection into a mosaic and the rectangular Window Pane 180 x 90cm keeps it calm; and a room that already has a lattice in it, a leaded window or a trellis, where one is a theme and two is a tic. The Arched Window 180 x 90cm is the same arch over a plain grid at the same price for exactly those rooms.

180 x 90cm: what it shows and what it weighs

A 180 x 90 mirror hung with its bottom edge 20cm off the floor has its glass topping out at 200cm, so anyone up to about 205cm sees themselves head to toe by the half-height rule, with the curve starting 45cm below the top at 155cm, above the eye line. Ninety centimetres frames a person and an outfit or two people side-on; leant at seven degrees in a bedroom it shows anyone from a pace back. The glass in a 180cm mirror this wide is one continuous 1.62 square metre sheet at 16.2kg, and the welded frame, the arched lattice and the backing bring the delivered weight to 27.5kg: a two-person delivery, two people to hang, and fixings into studs or masonry rather than plasterboard anchors.

Hanging 27.5kg of arched lattice level

The two hanging points sit well below the top of the curve, so measure from the hardware to the floor and not from the top of the arch, or the mirror lands higher than planned. Every horizontal bar in a lattice shows half a degree of lean, so mark both points with a level, hang with two people lifting from the outer frame and never the bars, hook both points on before anyone lets go, and check the lowest straight bar before you tighten. At 27.5kg the fixings are two nylon plugs and screws rated above the weight into brick or block, wood screws into two timber studs, or a batten across two studs; dot-and-dab wants long frame fixings through to the masonry; cavity anchors are not an option above 20kg. The hanging guide covers each wall and the full length wall mirror page the weight-to-fixing tables.

Leaning is for a bedroom or dressing room: felt pads under the base, about 20cm out for five to eight degrees, and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top on the day it arrives, because a slim window frame has little footprint and goes rather than wobbles if knocked. Not in a hall. The securing guide covers the strap, the cable and the L-bracket.

Black or gold arched lattice at 180 x 90cm

A black arched lattice mirror reads as a leaded chapel window in a dark frame and is at its best on white, pale grey and sage, where it adds architecture and hides the fingerprints a frame with this many edges collects; it vanishes on navy. A gold arched lattice mirror in satin champagne-brass reads as a gilded screen, warming navy, sage and cream and drifting to warm silver on pure white; in a bedroom in warm whites and linens it is the one. Same welded steel, same powder coat, same £339.95. The two-tone black frame with gold bars is made on this design at 180 x 105cm. The black full length mirror and gold full length mirror pages make each case, and the window mirror page has all 14 window designs and sizes.

Cleaning the busiest frame we sell

The arched lattice has more bar edges than any mirror here below 200cm, so budget a few minutes. A dry microfibre cloth lifts dust from glass and bars; for marks, a cloth dampened with glass cleaner and folded over a finger does each pane on its own, and the fanned panes under the arch want a small cloth. Spraying the whole face pools liquid at the bar edges and runs it into the join where the backing lives. Nothing abrasive on the powder coat; a touch-up pen hides a scratch through it from two paces. The cleaning guide has the streak-free method.

Compared with the Arched Window, the Lattice Window and the other sizes

Same arch, plain grid: the Arched Window 180 x 90cm at 27.3kg and the same £339.95, for a room with pattern or a hall. Same lattice, straight top: the Lattice Window 180 x 90cm at 27.9kg and £299.95, for a dining room. Other sizes of this design: the compact 150 x 60cm at 17.2kg and £229.95; the 180 x 105cm at 31kg and £369.95 with the two-tone option; and the 200 x 120cm at 38.5kg and £399.95 for a wall that wants a whole chapel window and has 2.2m of clear height to give it.

FAQ

Questions about this mirror

Is the Arched Lattice Window 180 x 90cm too busy for a small room?

In a small room with patterned walls, yes; the lattice and the paper fight, and the plain Gentle Arch at the same size is the calmer buy. On plain paint in a room over 3m long, or on a landing, the grid has room to read as a window and it is the most decorative mirror we sell.

Arched Lattice Window or Arched Window at 180 x 90cm?

Same arch, same price. The Arched Window has a few large panes and keeps the reflection calm, for a room with pattern or a hall; the Arched Lattice doubles the bars for a chapel-window pattern, for a plain wall that needs furnishing. 27.5kg against 27.3kg.

Does the arch cut off the top of my head?

No. The semicircle begins 45cm below the top edge, which is 155cm up when the mirror hangs with its bottom edge 20cm off the floor, above the eye line of anyone in front of it. Hung that way it shows anyone to about 205cm head to toe.

How do I hang 27.5kg level with all those bars?

Measure from the two hanging points on the back, not from the top of the arch; mark both with a level; hang with two people lifting from the outer frame; check the lowest straight bar before tightening. Into brick, timber studs or a batten; cavity anchors are not enough above 20kg.

Can it lean?

In a bedroom or dressing room, with felt pads under the base and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top fitted on the day it arrives. A slim window frame goes rather than wobbles if knocked, so not in a hall. The strap is not in the box.

What happens if it arrives damaged?

Photograph the damage, the carton and the label and email us within 24 hours. A replacement is dispatched free and you keep the damaged one for disposal rather than posting glass back. Check every pane and every bar joint, including the fanned ones under the arch, on the day it arrives.
