Description, dimensions, delivery and returns

Lattice Window Full Length Mirror 150 x 60cm, available in Black, Gold. 4mm silver-backed glass with a reinforced safety backing in a powder-coated steel frame, about 17.6kg. Hang it with the fitted hardware or lean it with an anti-tip strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, delivered in two to seven working days; two-person delivery on the largest sizes.

Hanging and leaning

The hanging hardware is fitted to the back; use wall plugs and screws to suit your wall. To lean it, stand it at a slight angle and fit an anti-tip strap, especially with children or pets about. Step by step: how to hang a heavy mirror and how to secure a leaning mirror.

Glass and safety

4mm backed glass with a reinforced safety backing. If the mirror is knocked hard enough to crack, the backing holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall. Glass is still glass, so it can break, but it fails safely. Why thickness matters: mirror glass thickness explained.

What a lattice window mirror is, and what the grid does to the reflection

A lattice window mirror borrows the slim steel windows Crittall made for 1930s houses, with one difference: the bars are welded to the frame and laid over a single sheet of glass, so you are looking at one mirror with a grid on top rather than fifteen small ones. The reflection is whole and undistorted behind the bars. The lattice version doubles the bars of a plain pane grid, so the panes are smaller and the frame reads as a finer, busier pattern, closer to a leaded cottage window than a factory one; the plain-grid alternative at larger sizes is the Window Pane, and at 150 x 60cm this and the Arched Lattice Window are the two window mirrors we make.

What the grid does to the reflection is break it into panels. A passing coat does not become a wall of coat; a cluttered room becomes a set of small views. In a small room that can feel busy, which is why the 150 x 60cm is the lattice we would put in a hallway or beside a wardrobe rather than facing a bed, and why the plain Window Pane exists.

150 x 60cm: the compact Crittall look, and what it shows

A 150 x 60 mirror hung with its bottom edge 20cm off the floor is a 150cm mirror with the top of its glass at 170cm, which by the half-height rule shows anyone up to about 175cm head to toe; the average British man is 175.0cm and the average woman 161.3cm. Leant at seven degrees it shows anyone, because a back-tilted mirror brings more of your head into view. Sixty centimetres frames one person. It is the window mirror for a hallway a metre wide, a landing, or the gap beside a bedroom wardrobe, and the one to choose when the 180 x 90cm Lattice Window at 27.9kg is more wall than you have.

17.6kg: why the bars add weight, and what that means for fixings

The plain Gentle Arch 150 x 60cm is 15.3kg; this is 17.6kg. The extra 2.3kg is the lattice, steel bars welded across the frame, and it is the first thing to know before you choose a wall. The glass itself is the same 0.9 square metre sheet of 4mm float at about 9kg. At 17.6kg the mirror is still in the band where two metal cavity anchors, each rated above the full weight, are acceptable on a plasterboard wall with no stud in reach; it is the heaviest mirror on the site for which we would say that. Brick, block or studs are better, and the two hanging points already on the back take plugs and screws or wood screws to suit.

A window mirror forgives a lean less than a plain one, because every bar in the grid shows half a degree of tilt. Mark both fixing points with a level, hang it with two people, check the top bar before you tighten. Leaning it is fine in a bedroom or dressing room with felt pads under the base and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top, fitted on day one; the frame is slim, so the base has little footprint and a knocked window mirror goes rather than wobbles. In a hallway, hang it. The hanging guide and the securing guide cover both.

Black lattice or gold lattice?

A black lattice mirror is the one most people picture, because the frame reads as a window and windows are not usually gold; matt black on a white or pale wall is the classic contrast, it hides the fingerprints a hallway collects, and it is the version people search for by name. A gold lattice mirror in satin champagne-brass reads as a decorative object rather than a window, warms sage, navy and cream rooms, and turns to warm silver on pure white. Both are powder coat on the same welded steel at the same £229.95, so choose on the wall and on the room's other metals. The black-frame-gold-bars two-tone exists on the window designs at 180 x 105cm only. The black full length mirror and gold full length mirror pages make each case.

Cleaning a lattice: the finger-and-cloth method

More bars means more edges, and a lattice has the most of any mirror here. A dry microfibre cloth lifts dust from the glass and the bars in a minute. For marks, dampen a cloth with glass cleaner, fold it over a finger and do each pane on its own; spraying the whole face pools liquid at the bar edges and leaves marks, and lets it run into the join where the backing lives. Nothing abrasive on the powder coat. A matt black touch-up pen hides a scratch through the coat from two paces. The cleaning guide has the streak-free method for the glass.

Where the 150 x 60cm lattice works: hallway, bedroom, home office

The hallway first. A window mirror 150 x 60cm hung flat facing the front door or on the long wall reads as a second window and throws the daylight from the door glass back down the hall, and black is the usual pick because it reads as architecture. Then the bedroom, beside the wardrobe side-on to the window, where the lattice earns its place if the walls are plain and loses it if they are patterned; two patterns fight. Then a home office or a landing, anywhere the mirror is seen all day rather than only when you dress, which is what the window style was designed for. Not a steamy bathroom and not a garden: the glass and backing are for dry rooms. The window mirror page covers the style across all 14 sizes and designs.

Arrival, delivery and returns

One carton: the mirror with its hanging hardware fitted and the safety backing behind the glass, no plugs, screws or strap. Open it the day it arrives, because the damage window is 24 hours: check every pane for a crack, run a hand along the bars for a loose joint, look at the corners of the frame for chips in the powder coat, and photograph anything wrong with the carton and the label before you email. A replacement is dispatched free and the damaged one stays with you. Dispatch within one working day, delivery two to seven working days, tracked, free to mainland UK, on the delivery page; 14-day change of mind, unused and at your carriage cost, on the returns page. The whole range is on the full length mirrors page.

FAQ

Questions about this mirror

Do the bars on the Lattice Window 150 x 60cm break up the reflection?

They sit over one sheet of glass, so the reflection behind them is whole and undistorted; what you see is yourself through a grid. In a small room the fine lattice can feel busy, which is why the plain Window Pane grid exists at the larger sizes.

How heavy is the Lattice Window 150 x 60cm, and why heavier than the plain arch?

17.6kg against 15.3kg for the Gentle Arch at the same size. The difference is the welded steel bars. The glass is the same 4mm sheet at about 9kg. It is still light enough for two rated cavity anchors on a hollow plasterboard wall.

Is a 150 x 60cm window mirror big enough for a hallway?

Yes, for a hall about a metre wide, hung flat facing the door or on the long wall. It shows anyone to about 175cm head to toe hung at a 20cm bottom edge. If the wall allows, the 180 x 90cm Lattice Window at 27.9kg throws more light; if not, this is the one.

Black or gold lattice window mirror?

Black reads as a window, hides fingerprints and suits white, grey and sage walls; gold reads as a decorative object and warms navy, cream and green rooms, turning to warm silver on pure white. Same frame, same price. The two-tone black with gold bars is available at 180 x 105cm only.

How do I clean between the bars?

A dry microfibre cloth for dust, then a cloth dampened with glass cleaner folded over a finger for each pane. Do not spray the whole face; the liquid pools at the bar edges and leaves marks. Nothing abrasive on the powder coat.

What comes in the box, and what if it arrives damaged?

The mirror with its hanging hardware fitted and the safety backing behind the glass; no plugs, screws or strap, which have to suit your wall. If it arrives cracked, chipped or marked, photograph the damage, the carton and the label and email us within 24 hours for a free replacement; you keep the damaged one.
