The Lattice Window mirror 180 x 90cm is the fine Crittall-style grid at the size where it has room to work: 1.62 square metres of 4mm safety-backed glass under a welded steel lattice, matt black or satin gold, 27.9kg, £299.95. The small panes read as a leaded window across a dining-room or living-room wall; the Window Pane at the same size and price is the plain-grid alternative for a hallway facing clutter. Hung with its bottom edge 20cm up it shows anyone to about 205cm.

Hanging hardware fitted; hang it from two fixings into studs or masonry, or lean it with a strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, two-person delivery, replaced free if it arrives damaged.

Product information

Description, dimensions, delivery and returns

Lattice Window Full Length Mirror 180 x 90cm, available in Black, Gold. 4mm silver-backed glass with a reinforced safety backing in a powder-coated steel frame, about 27.9kg. Hang it with the fitted hardware or lean it with an anti-tip strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, delivered in two to seven working days; two-person delivery on the largest sizes.

Hanging and leaning

The hanging hardware is fitted to the back; use wall plugs and screws to suit your wall. To lean it, stand it at a slight angle and fit an anti-tip strap, especially with children or pets about. At 27.9kg this needs solid fixings into brick, block or a timber stud, not plasterboard anchors alone. Step by step: how to hang a heavy mirror and how to secure a leaning mirror.

Glass and safety

4mm backed glass with a reinforced safety backing. If the mirror is knocked hard enough to crack, the backing holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall. Glass is still glass, so it can break, but it fails safely. Why thickness matters: mirror glass thickness explained.

Why the lattice works better at 180 x 90cm than at 150 x 60cm

A fine grid needs glass to spread across. At 150 x 60cm the lattice can feel busy in a small room, which is why the compact Lattice Window is a hallway and landing mirror. At 180 x 90cm the same pattern has 1.62 square metres to work with, the panes are the same size but there are more of them, and the frame reads as a window rather than a screen. This is the Lattice Window full length mirror for a dining room, where candlelight in a grid of small panes is one of the better effects a mirror can give, for a living room wall opposite a real window, and for a bedroom over 3m long with plain walls. On a patterned wall any lattice fights the paper; buy the plain Window Pane 180 x 90cm at the same price, or the Gentle Arch with no bars at all.

What a 180 x 90 mirror shows

Hung with its bottom edge 20cm off the floor, a 180cm mirror has its glass topping out at 200cm, and a flat mirror shows a person at half their height, so anyone up to about 205cm sees themselves head to toe; the average British man is 175.0cm and the average woman 161.3cm, so this is more height than any household needs and the extra is bought for the wall. Ninety centimetres shows a person with an outfit held up, or two people side-on. Leant at seven degrees in a dressing room it shows anyone from a pace back and the tilt lifts the view. Behind the bars the glass is one continuous sheet, so what you see is yourself through a grid, not a jigsaw of small mirrors.

Hanging 27.9kg so that every bar is level

Float glass weighs 2.5kg per square metre per millimetre, so the sheet is 16.2kg and the welded frame, its bars and the backing are the other 11.7kg. At 27.9kg this mirror is above the line where our fixing rule for plasterboard becomes timber or masonry and never board alone: two nylon plugs and screws rated above the weight into brick or block, wood screws into two timber studs, or a batten screwed across two studs where the stud spacing does not match the two hanging points already fitted to the back. Dot-and-dab wants long frame fixings through the board and the cavity into the masonry. No cavity anchors.

The lattice is unforgiving of a lean. A plain mirror hides half a degree; a grid of small panes shows it in every horizontal bar. Mark both fixing points with a level, hang with two people lifting from the outer frame and never the bars, hook both points on before anyone lets go, and check the top bar with the level before you tighten. The hanging guide covers each wall type, and the full length wall mirror page has the weight-to-fixing tables. Leaning is for a dressing room or living room with felt pads under the base and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top fitted on day one; the slim frame has little footprint and a knocked window mirror goes rather than wobbles, so halls are for hanging.

Black lattice or gold lattice at this size?

A black lattice mirror of 1.62 square metres reads as a leaded window in a dark frame: on white, pale grey or sage walls it adds a window's worth of light and architecture, and black hides the fingerprints a frame with this many edges collects. A gold lattice mirror in satin champagne-brass is the decorative version, a gilded screen rather than a window, warming navy, sage and cream rooms and drifting to warm silver on pure white; in a dining room with brass candlesticks it is the one. Same welded steel, same powder coat, same £299.95. The two-tone black frame with gold bars is made at 180 x 105cm. The black full length mirror and gold full length mirror pages make each case, and the window mirror page has all 14 window designs and sizes.

Cleaning a lattice this size

More panes than any other mirror here except the 200cm lattices, so budget a few minutes rather than one. A dry microfibre cloth lifts dust from glass and bars; for marks, a cloth dampened with glass cleaner and folded over a finger does each pane on its own. Spraying the whole face pools liquid at the bar edges and runs it into the join where the backing lives, which is how edge spotting starts. Nothing abrasive on the powder coat; a touch-up pen for a scratch through it. The cleaning guide has the streak-free method.

Compared with the Window Pane, the arched lattices and the other sizes

Same size and price, plain grid: the Window Pane 180 x 90cm at 27.6kg, for a hallway facing clutter or a room with pattern on the walls. Same grid under an arch: the Arched Lattice Window 180 x 90cm at 27.5kg and £339.95, for a landing or a bedroom. Other sizes of this design: the compact 150 x 60cm at 17.6kg and £229.95 for a hall or a gap beside a wardrobe; the 180 x 105cm at 31.8kg and £319.95, which adds the black-and-gold two-tone and a second person side by side; and the 200 x 120cm at 39kg and £399.95, the heaviest mirror we sell, for a wall that wants a whole window.

FAQ

Questions about this mirror

Lattice Window or Window Pane at 180 x 90cm?

Lattice for a dining room, a living room or a bedroom with plain walls, where the fine grid has room to read as a leaded window. Window Pane for a hallway facing clutter or a room with patterned walls, where a few large panes keep the reflection calm. Same glass, same steel, same £299.95; 27.9kg against 27.6kg.

How heavy is the Lattice Window 180 x 90cm, and can it go on plasterboard?

27.9kg, of which about 16.2kg is the 4mm glass. Into timber studs or from a batten across two studs, yes; on cavity anchors, no. Brick or block takes two rated plugs and screws into the brick.

Will I see all of myself in it?

Hung with its bottom edge 20cm off the floor it shows anyone to about 205cm head to toe; the 90cm width frames a person with an outfit held up or two people side-on. Leant in a dressing room it shows anyone from a pace back.

Do the small panes break up the reflection?

They sit over one continuous sheet of glass, so the reflection behind them is whole; you see yourself through a grid. At this size the grid reads as a window rather than a screen, which is why we would put the lattice here and the plain grid in a small hall.

How do I keep it level?

Mark both fixing points with a level before drilling, hang with two people, hook both points on, and check the top bar with the level before you tighten. A grid of small panes shows half a degree of lean that a plain mirror would hide.

What comes in the box, and what if it arrives damaged?

The mirror with its hanging hardware fitted and the safety backing behind the glass; no plugs, screws or strap. If it arrives cracked, chipped or with a loose bar joint, photograph the damage, the carton and the label and email us within 24 hours for a free replacement; the damaged one stays with you.
