The Arched Window mirror 180 x 90cm is the window look with a curved head: a true semicircle over a plain grid of large panes, welded steel in matt black or satin gold, one sheet of 4mm safety-backed glass under the bars, 27.3kg, £339.95. The arch makes it the version for a landing or a bedroom, where a mirror is allowed to be decorative; the plain grid keeps the reflection calm. Hung with its bottom edge 20cm up it shows anyone to about 205cm.

Hanging hardware fitted; hang it from two fixings into studs or masonry, or lean it with a strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, two-person delivery, replaced free if it arrives damaged.

Description, dimensions, delivery and returns

Arched Window Full Length Mirror 180 x 90cm, available in Black, Gold. 4mm silver-backed glass with a reinforced safety backing in a powder-coated steel frame, about 27.3kg. Hang it with the fitted hardware or lean it with an anti-tip strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, delivered in two to seven working days; two-person delivery on the largest sizes.

Hanging and leaning

The hanging hardware is fitted to the back; use wall plugs and screws to suit your wall. To lean it, stand it at a slight angle and fit an anti-tip strap, especially with children or pets about. At 27.3kg this needs solid fixings into brick, block or a timber stud, not plasterboard anchors alone. Step by step: how to hang a heavy mirror and how to secure a leaning mirror.

Glass and safety

4mm backed glass with a reinforced safety backing. If the mirror is knocked hard enough to crack, the backing holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall. Glass is still glass, so it can break, but it fails safely. Why thickness matters: mirror glass thickness explained.

An arch over a plain grid: what you get and what you give up

Two of the most searched mirror ideas in Britain, the arch at 18,000 searches a month and the window mirror at 2,800, in one frame. The semicircle on a 90cm wide frame has a 45cm radius, so the curve begins 45cm below the top and the bars above that point fan to follow it; below it the grid is the plain, large-paned pattern of a factory window, which keeps the reflection in a few calm panels rather than the busy mosaic of a lattice. What you get is a window with a curved head, the kind in a chapel or an old school, in a dark or warm line against the wall. What you give up is the two top corners of glass, which sit above anyone's head, and the option to hang it in a hall with straight lines, where the rectangular Window Pane 180 x 90cm at £40 less suits better. The finer-grid version of this same arch is the Arched Lattice Window 180 x 90cm at the same price.

180 x 90cm: coverage and where it goes

A 180 x 90 mirror hung with its bottom edge 20cm off the floor has its glass topping out at 200cm, and a flat mirror shows a person at half their height, so anyone up to about 205cm sees themselves head to toe with the curve starting at 155cm, well above the eye line. Ninety centimetres is a person with an outfit or two people side-on. Leant at seven degrees in a bedroom or dressing room it shows anyone from a pace back and the tilt lifts the view. It belongs on a landing, where a 180cm mirror with a curved head reads as a window into the roof; in a bedroom over 3m long, beside the wardrobe and side-on to the window; and in a living room with other curves to echo. In a steamy bathroom or a garden, no: the glass and backing are for dry rooms.

Hanging an arched window mirror: measure from the hardware, level the bars

Two things make this mirror different to hang from a plain one. The hanging points sit well below the top of the curve, so measure from the hardware on the back to the floor and never from the top of the arch when you mark the wall, or the mirror ends up 20cm higher than you planned. And the grid shows a lean of half a degree in every horizontal bar, so mark both points with a level, hang with two people lifting from the outer frame rather than the bars, hook both points on before anyone lets go, and check the lowest straight bar before you tighten.

At 27.3kg the fixing goes into something solid: two nylon plugs and screws rated above the weight into brick or block, wood screws into two timber studs, or a batten across two studs where the hanging points do not line up; dot-and-dab wants long frame fixings through to the masonry, and cavity anchors are not an option above 20kg. The hanging guide covers each wall. Leaning suits a bedroom or dressing room with felt pads under the base and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top fitted on day one; the slim frame has little footprint and a knocked window mirror goes rather than wobbles. The securing guide covers the strap.

Black arched window or gold arched window?

A black arched window mirror is the chapel-window version: a dark curved frame with large panes, crisp on white, pale grey and sage, and the finish that hides fingerprints and matches black handles and taps. It vanishes on navy. A gold arched window mirror in satin champagne-brass reads as a gilded screen rather than a window and warms navy, sage and cream rooms; on pure white it drifts to warm silver. Same welded steel, same powder coat, same £339.95. The two-tone black frame with gold bars is made on this design at 180 x 105cm. The black full length mirror and gold full length mirror pages make each case; the window mirror page has all 14 window designs and sizes, and the arch mirror page the plain-glass arches.

Compared with the Arched Lattice, the Window Pane and the other sizes

Same arch, finer grid: the Arched Lattice Window 180 x 90cm at 27.5kg and the same £339.95, for a room with plain walls where the busier pattern has room to read. Same plain grid, straight top: the Window Pane 180 x 90cm at 27.6kg and £299.95, for a hallway. No bars at all under a shallower curve: the Gentle Arch 180 x 90cm at 29.8kg and £239.95. Other sizes of this design: the 180 x 105cm at 30kg and £369.95 adds the two-tone and a second person side by side, and the 200 x 120cm at 38kg and £399.95 reflects a wall and wants 2.2m of clear height. There is no 150 x 60cm Arched Window; the compact arched window mirror is the lattice version.

Dispatched within one working day from UK stock and delivered in two to seven working days on a two-person service, free to mainland UK, offshore postcodes quoted by email. One carton: the mirror with its hanging hardware fitted and the safety backing behind the glass, no plugs, screws or strap. Open it the day it arrives with the carton upright and someone steadying it, check every pane for a crack and every bar joint for movement, look at the frame corners and the curve for chips in the powder coat, and photograph anything wrong with the carton and the label within 24 hours; a replacement is dispatched free and the damaged one stays with you. Clean it with a dry microfibre cloth, and for marks a damp cloth over a finger pane by pane rather than a spray across the face; the cleaning guide has the method. FAQ

Questions about this mirror

What is the difference between the Arched Window and the Arched Lattice Window at 180 x 90cm?

The grid under the arch. This one has a few large panes, the proportion of a factory window, which keeps the reflection calm; the Arched Lattice doubles the bars for a finer, cottage-window pattern. Same glass, same welded steel, same £339.95; 27.3kg against 27.5kg.

Does the arch cut off the top of my head?

No. The semicircle begins 45cm below the top edge, which is 155cm up when the mirror hangs with its bottom edge 20cm off the floor and above the eye line of anyone in front of it. Hung that way it shows anyone to about 205cm head to toe.

How do I hang an arched window mirror level?

Measure from the two hanging points on the back, which sit well below the top of the curve, not from the top of the arch; mark both with a level; hang with two people lifting from the outer frame; and check the lowest straight bar before you tighten. At 27.3kg, into brick, studs or a batten, never cavity anchors.

Can the Arched Window 180 x 90cm lean?

In a bedroom or dressing room, yes, with felt pads under the base and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top fitted on the day it arrives; a slim window frame goes rather than wobbles if knocked. In a hall, hang it. The strap is not in the box.

Which rooms suit it?

A landing, where a curved-head window mirror reads as a window into the roof; a bedroom over 3m long, beside the wardrobe; a living room with other curves to echo. Not a straight-lined hall, where the rectangular Window Pane suits better, and not a steamy bathroom or a garden.

What happens if it arrives damaged?

Photograph the damage, the carton and the label and email us within 24 hours. A replacement is dispatched free and you keep the damaged one for disposal rather than posting glass back. Check every pane, every bar joint and the curve on the day it arrives.
