The Arched Window mirror 180 x 105cm is a chapel window two people wide: a 52.5cm-radius semicircle over a plain grid of large panes, welded steel in matt black, satin gold, or a black frame with gold bars, one sheet of 4mm safety-backed glass under the bars, 30kg, £369.95. The arch makes it the landing and bedroom version of the window look; the plain grid keeps the reflection calm at a width where a lattice would be busy.

Hanging hardware fitted; hang it from two fixings into studs or masonry, or lean it with a strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, two-person delivery, replaced free if it arrives damaged.

Product information

Description, dimensions, delivery and returns

Arched Window Full Length Mirror 180 x 105cm, available in Black, Gold, Black & Gold. 4mm silver-backed glass with a reinforced safety backing in a powder-coated steel frame, about 30.0kg. Hang it with the fitted hardware or lean it with an anti-tip strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, delivered in two to seven working days; two-person delivery on the largest sizes.

Hanging and leaning

The hanging hardware is fitted to the back; use wall plugs and screws to suit your wall. To lean it, stand it at a slight angle and fit an anti-tip strap, especially with children or pets about. At 30kg this needs solid fixings into brick, block or a timber stud, not plasterboard anchors alone. Step by step: how to hang a heavy mirror and how to secure a leaning mirror.

Glass and safety

4mm backed glass with a reinforced safety backing. If the mirror is knocked hard enough to crack, the backing holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall. Glass is still glass, so it can break, but it fails safely. Why thickness matters: mirror glass thickness explained.

A 52cm arch over large panes: what it looks like and where it goes

On a 105cm frame the semicircle has a 52.5cm radius, so the curve begins 52.5cm below the top edge and the bars above that point fan to follow it; below, the grid is the plain, large-paned pattern of a factory window. Hung with the bottom edge 20cm off the floor the top of the glass is at 200cm and the curve starts at 147.5cm, which sounds low until you remember your head reflects in the centre of the glass, where at 180cm up the arch is still 82cm wide. You lose two corners above and beside anyone's head and keep a window with a curved head that reads from across a room. It goes on a landing, where it looks like a window into the roof; in a bedroom over 3.5m long on a wall of its own; in a living room with other curves to echo. In a straight-lined hall the rectangular Window Pane 180 x 105cm at £30 less suits better, and on plain paint the finer Arched Lattice Window 180 x 105cm at the same price has room to read.

Two people wide, 30kg, three finishes

A 180 x 105 mirror hung at a 20cm bottom edge is a 180cm mirror topping out at 200cm; it shows anyone to about 205cm head to toe and puts two people square to the glass. It needs a clear wall a little over a metre wide with nothing low enough to catch the curve. At 30kg, 18.9kg of which is the glass, it is a two-person delivery and a two-person hang with fixings into studs, a batten or masonry only. This size brings the third finish: a matt black frame with satin gold glazing bars, alongside plain black and plain gold, all at £369.95.

Hanging a 30kg arched window: hardware, not arch; bars level

Two things to get right. The hanging points sit well below the top of the curve, so measure from the hardware on the back to the floor and never from the top of the arch, or the mirror lands 20cm higher than planned. And every horizontal bar shows half a degree of lean, so mark both points with a level, hang with two people lifting from the outer frame rather than the bars, hook both points on before anyone lets go, and check the lowest straight bar before tightening. At 30kg the fixing goes into something solid: a batten across two studs or into brick, levelled first, is the method we would use on any wall; two nylon plugs and screws rated above 30kg into brick work too; dot-and-dab wants long frame fixings through to the masonry; cavity anchors are not an option. The hanging guide covers each wall and the full length wall mirror page the weight tables.

Leaning suits a bedroom or dressing room with felt pads under the base and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top fitted before anyone leaves the room; a slim window frame has little footprint and 30kg that goes over is a serious accident. The securing guide covers the strap.

Black, gold or black with gold bars under an arch

A black arched window mirror is the chapel window in a dark frame: crisp on white, pale grey and sage, hides fingerprints, vanishes on navy. A gold arched window mirror in satin champagne-brass is a gilded screen, warming navy, sage and cream and drifting to warm silver on pure white. The two-tone, a black frame with gold bars fanning under the arch, is the one for a dark landing or a navy bedroom: the black frame holds its edge and the gold bars glow inside it. Same welded steel, same powder coat, same £369.95. The black full length mirror and gold full length mirror pages make each case; the window mirror page has all 14 window designs and sizes, and the arch mirror page the plain-glass arches.

Compared with the Arched Lattice, the Window Pane and the other sizes

Same arch and finishes, finer grid: the Arched Lattice Window 180 x 105cm at 31kg and the same £369.95, for plain paint. Same plain grid, straight top: the Window Pane 180 x 105cm at 31.2kg and £339.95, for a hall or a dining room. Other sizes of this design: the 180 x 90cm at 27.3kg and £339.95 for one person on a 90cm wall, and the 200 x 120cm at 38kg and £399.95 for a wall that wants a whole chapel window and has 2.2m to give it.

Two-person delivery, cleaning, arrival and returns

Dispatched within one working day from UK stock and delivered in two to seven working days on a two-person service, to your door and into a ground-floor room where the route allows; free to mainland UK, offshore postcodes quoted by email. The carton is a little over 105cm wide and travels on its long edge, so measure the half landing and stair headroom for an upstairs room; the guide to moving a large mirror covers the carry. One carton: the mirror with its hanging hardware fitted and the safety backing behind the glass, no plugs, screws, batten or strap. Open it the day it arrives with the carton upright and someone steadying it, check every pane for a crack and every bar joint for movement, including the fanned joints under the arch, and photograph anything wrong with the carton and the label within 24 hours; a replacement is dispatched free and the damaged one stays with you. Clean with a dry microfibre cloth, and for marks a damp cloth over a finger pane by pane; the cleaning guide has the method. Change of mind is 14 days, unused and in its packaging, at your carriage cost. The delivery and returns pages have the detail, and every mirror we sell is on the full length mirrors page.

FAQ

Questions about this mirror

Does a 52cm-radius arch cut off the top of my head?

No. Hung with the bottom edge 20cm up, the curve starts at 147.5cm but your head reflects in the centre of the glass, where at 180cm up the arch is still 82cm wide. You lose two corners above and beside anyone's head. It shows anyone to about 205cm.

Arched Window or Arched Lattice Window at 180 x 105cm?

Same arch, same finishes, same £369.95. The Arched Window has a few large panes and keeps a two-person-wide reflection calm, for patterned walls or busy rooms; the Arched Lattice doubles the bars for a chapel-window pattern on plain paint. 30kg against 31kg.

What is the black and gold finish?

A matt black outer frame with satin champagne-gold glazing bars fanning under the arch. It holds its edge on a dark wall where plain black vanishes and glows inside. Made at this size only on the window designs, at the same price as plain black or gold.

How do I hang 30kg level with an arch on top?

Measure from the two hanging points on the back, not from the top of the arch; mark both with a level; hang from a batten across two studs or into brick, or two rated plugs and screws into brick; two people lifting from the outer frame; check the lowest straight bar before tightening. No cavity anchors.

Which rooms suit it?

A landing, where a curved-head window two people wide reads as a window into the roof; a bedroom over 3.5m long on a wall of its own; a living room with other curves. Not a straight-lined hall, where the Window Pane suits, and not a steamy bathroom or a garden.

What happens if it arrives damaged?

Photograph the damage, the carton and the label and email us within 24 hours. A replacement is dispatched free and you keep the damaged one for disposal rather than posting glass back. Check every pane and bar joint, including the fanned ones under the arch, on the day it arrives.
