This arched full length mirror 180 x 105cm is the widest semicircle we make below two metres: a 52.5cm-radius curve over 1.89 square metres of 4mm safety-backed glass, slim welded steel in matt black or satin gold, 26.5kg, £309.95. Two people stand in it side by side, the curve starts above anyone's head, and at head height the glass is still 80cm wide, so the arch costs nobody anything. The maker specifies it for portrait hanging only.

Hanging hardware fitted; hang it from two fixings into studs or masonry, or lean it with a strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, two-person delivery, replaced free if it arrives damaged.

Product information

Description, dimensions, delivery and returns

Arched Full Length Mirror 180 x 105cm, available in Black, Gold. 4mm silver-backed glass with a reinforced safety backing in a powder-coated steel frame, about 26.5kg. Hang it with the fitted hardware or lean it with an anti-tip strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, delivered in two to seven working days; two-person delivery on the largest sizes.

Hanging and leaning

The hanging hardware is fitted to the back; use wall plugs and screws to suit your wall. To lean it, stand it at a slight angle and fit an anti-tip strap, especially with children or pets about. At 26.5kg this needs solid fixings into brick, block or a timber stud, not plasterboard anchors alone. Step by step: how to hang a heavy mirror and how to secure a leaning mirror.

Glass and safety

4mm backed glass with a reinforced safety backing. If the mirror is knocked hard enough to crack, the backing holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall. Glass is still glass, so it can break, but it fails safely. Why thickness matters: mirror glass thickness explained.

The semicircle at 105cm wide: where the curve starts and what it leaves you

On a 105cm frame the full arch is a half circle of 52.5cm radius, so the curve begins 52.5cm below the top edge. Hung with the bottom edge 20cm off the floor the top of the glass is at 200cm and the curve starts at 147.5cm, which sounds low until you do the geometry. Your head reflects at a point on the glass about 5cm below the top of your head, so a 185cm person is looking at the glass 180cm up, and at that height the arch is still 82cm wide. The two corners you lose are above and beside anyone's head; what you keep is a 105cm wide mirror that shows two people side by side and one person with the room around them.

That is the case for the full arch at this size over the shallow curve of the Gentle Arch 180 x 105cm at the same £309.95: on a plain wall the semicircle supplies all the shape the wall was missing, and an arch mirror 180 x 105cm wide is a big enough curve to read from across a living room. Under a picture rail, coving or a sloping ceiling, the gentle curve tucks in where this one would fight the line above it.

Who the 180 x 105cm is for

A couple who dress at the same time; a living room with a clear wall opposite the window; a dressing room where the mirror is the only decoration; a bedroom over 3.5m long with a wall of its own. A 180 x 105 mirror hung at a 20cm bottom edge is a 180cm mirror topping out at 200cm; it shows anyone to about 205cm head to toe and two people square to the glass; leant at seven degrees it shows anyone from a pace back. It is not for a hallway, which rarely has a metre of clear wall and never wants a 26.5kg leaner; the Arched 160 x 60cm is the semicircle for a hall or a bedroom gap, and the 200 x 120cm is the one for a room that wants a whole wall reflected.

Hanging 26.5kg from two points a metre apart

The two hanging points are fitted and sit well below the top of the curve, so measure from the hardware to the floor and never from the top of the arch when you mark the wall. On a frame this wide the points sit far apart, which is good for stability and usually means they straddle two timber studs on a plasterboard wall; where they do not, fix a batten across two studs and hang from the batten. Brick or block takes two nylon plugs and screws rated above 26.5kg into the brick. Dot-and-dab wants long frame fixings through to the masonry. Above 20kg our rule for plasterboard is timber or masonry, never cavity anchors. Two people lift from the frame sides, hook both points on, step back, level, then tighten. The hanging guide covers each wall type.

Leaning in a dressing room or living room is how most people will use a mirror this wide, and it looks right leant: felt pads under the base, about 20cm out for five to eight degrees, and an anti-tip strap or a screw eye and cable at the top on the day it arrives. Not in the carton, not rated to carry the weight, and not optional with 26.5kg of glass resting on friction. The securing guide covers the strap and the cable.

Black or gold semicircle

A semicircle this wide in a dark or warm line is a shape you look at, so the finish matters more here than on the gentle curve. A black Arched mirror turns a living-room wall into a window: crisp on white, pale grey and sage, hides fingerprints, vanishes on navy. A gold Arched mirror in satin champagne-brass is a feature at this size whatever is reflected in it: it glows on sage, navy and cream, lifts a mid grey, and drifts to warm silver on pure white. Both are powder coat on the same steel at the same £309.95. The black arch mirror and gold arch mirror pages show the eight arches in each finish, and the arch mirror page has every arch together.

Compared with the Gentle Arch 180 x 105, the 160 and the 200

The Gentle Arch 180 x 105cm is the same size and price with a shallow curve and 28kg; buy it under a rail or in a busy room, buy this on a plain wall. The Arched 160 x 60cm is the semicircle at bedroom size, 14.7kg and £199.95, one person and an outfit. The Arched 200 x 120cm at 33.2kg and £399.95 is a 60cm-radius semicircle that reflects a wall and wants 2.2m of clear height. The champagne 180 x 90cm is the same design 15cm narrower in a paler finish at 20.8kg and £239.95.

Two-person delivery, arrival and returns

Dispatched within one working day from UK stock and delivered in two to seven working days on a two-person service, to your door and into a ground-floor room where the route allows; free to mainland UK, offshore postcodes quoted by email. The carton travels on its long edge and is a little over 105cm wide, so measure the half landing and the headroom over the stairs for an upstairs room; the guide to moving a large mirror covers the carry. One carton: the mirror with its hanging hardware fitted and the safety backing behind the glass, no plugs, screws or strap. Open it the day it arrives with the carton upright and someone steadying it, check the glass edge to edge and the curve of the frame for chips, and photograph anything cracked, chipped or marked with the carton and the label within 24 hours; a replacement is dispatched free and the damaged one stays with you. Change of mind is 14 days, unused and in its packaging, at your carriage cost. The delivery and returns pages have the detail, and every mirror we sell is on the full length mirrors page.

FAQ

Questions about this mirror

Does a 52cm-radius arch cut off the top of my head?

No. Hung with the bottom edge 20cm up, the curve starts at 147.5cm but your head reflects in the centre of the glass, and at 180cm up the arch is still 82cm wide. You lose two corners above and beside anyone's head, not any of yourself. It shows anyone to about 205cm.

Arched or Gentle Arch at 180 x 105cm?

Same size, same price. The Arched is a full semicircle for a plain wall that wants shape; the Gentle Arch is a shallow curve for a wall under a picture rail, coving or a sloping ceiling. This one is 26.5kg to the Gentle Arch's 28kg.

Can it be hung landscape?

No. The maker specifies the Arched 180 x 105cm for portrait hanging only, and a sideways semicircle reads as a mistake. The Rectangular 160 x 60cm and the Frameless Rectangular 200 x 120cm are the mirrors in our range made to hang either way.

How do I hang 26.5kg on plasterboard?

Into the timber studs behind it; at 105cm wide the two hanging points usually straddle two studs. Where they do not, fix a batten across two studs and hang from that. Cavity anchors are not enough at this weight; dot-and-dab needs long frame fixings into the masonry. Measure from the hardware, not the top of the arch.

Is it too wide for a bedroom?

For most bedrooms, yes: it needs a clear wall a little over a metre wide and a room over 3.5m long so it is not facing the bed. The Arched 160 x 60cm does the bedroom job. This size is for a shared dressing room or a living-room wall.

What happens if it arrives damaged?

Photograph the damage, the carton and the label and email us within 24 hours. A replacement is dispatched free and you keep the damaged one for disposal rather than posting glass back. Check the glass and the curve of the frame on the day it arrives.
