Product information

Description, dimensions, delivery and returns

Rectangular Full Length Mirror 180 x 105cm, available in Gold. 4mm silver-backed glass with a reinforced safety backing in a powder-coated steel frame, about 27.5kg. Hang it with the fitted hardware or lean it with an anti-tip strap. UK stock, dispatched within one working day, delivered in two to seven working days; two-person delivery on the largest sizes.

Hanging and leaning

The hanging hardware is fitted to the back; use wall plugs and screws to suit your wall. To lean it, stand it at a slight angle and fit an anti-tip strap, especially with children or pets about. At 27.5kg this needs solid fixings into brick, block or a timber stud, not plasterboard anchors alone. Step by step: how to hang a heavy mirror and how to secure a leaning mirror.

Glass and safety

4mm backed glass with a reinforced safety backing. If the mirror is knocked hard enough to crack, the backing holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall. Glass is still glass, so it can break, but it fails safely. Why thickness matters: mirror glass thickness explained.

Why a plain rectangle at 180 x 105cm, and why only in gold?

Because a wall this size sometimes wants light and not a shape. A metre of glass under an arch or behind a grid is a feature; a metre of glass in a straight slim frame is a window, and in a room that already has its features, a chimney breast, panelling, a big painting, the window is what you want. A rectangular full length mirror of 180 x 105cm hung opposite a real window doubles the daylight and makes the room read deeper without adding a second object to it, and leant in a dressing room it shows two people side by side with nothing to distract from the outfit.

The maker builds this size in gold alone, which is why it is the one mirror here without a black twin; a gold rectangular mirror with a straight frame in satin champagne-brass is a long warm line on the wall, and the same proportion in black would read as a dark slab, which is a fair reason not to make it. If you want a plain wide mirror in black, the Window Pane 180 x 105cm with its few large panes is the nearest, and the Rectangular 160 x 60cm is the plain frame at bedroom size in either colour.

Who the 180 x 105cm suits

A 180 x 105 mirror hung with its bottom edge 20cm off the floor is a 180cm mirror topping out at 200cm, which shows anyone to about 205cm head to toe by the half-height rule, and the 105cm width puts two people square to the glass at once or one person with the room around them. It needs a clear wall a little over a metre wide, which rules out most hallways and the gap beside most wardrobes, and a room where a 27.5kg leaner is not in anyone's path. A dressing room, a living room with a wall opposite the window, a bedroom over 3.5m long with a wall of its own: yes. A hallway or a small bedroom: the Rectangular 160 x 60cm at 15kg and £189.95, in black or gold. A wall that wants the whole room reflected: the Frameless Rectangular 200 x 120cm at 35.5kg.

Hanging a plain 27.5kg frame dead level

A straight frame shows a lean more than a curved one, because a 105cm horizontal top edge is a ruler against the ceiling line. Mark both hanging points with a level before you drill, hang with two people lifting from the frame sides, hook both points on, step back and sight the top edge against the coving or the ceiling before you tighten. The two points sit well apart on a frame this wide, which usually puts them across two timber studs on a plasterboard wall; where they do not, fix a batten across two studs. Brick or block takes two nylon plugs and screws rated above 27.5kg into the brick; dot-and-dab wants long frame fixings through to the masonry; cavity anchors are not an option above 20kg. The hanging guide covers each wall and the full length wall mirror page has the weight tables.

The hardware is fitted for portrait. A plain rectangle is the one shape that would make sense landscape over a sofa, and the maker specifies the 160 x 60cm Rectangular for either orientation, but for this size the listing does not say so; if you want it landscape, email us before you order and we will ask. Leaning in a dressing room is the natural use: felt pads under the base, about 20cm out, and an anti-tip strap or screw eye and cable at the top on day one. The securing guide covers it.

What this gold is, and which walls it suits

Satin champagne-brass: a pale, muted gold with a low sheen, powder coated onto welded steel, which means pigment baked into a hard skin that cannot tarnish and wipes clean with a dry cloth. The maker describes this size's finish as a rich metallic gold, and on the straight frame it reads as a long warm line. Against sage, navy, grey and cream the line reads as gold; against pure white it drifts towards warm silver, which on a plain frame is a quiet, almost frameless look that some rooms want and others do not. Match it to the room's other metals: brass and champagne handles, yes; chrome and black fittings, consider the black Window Pane instead. The gold full length mirror page explains the gold family; the large mirror page covers the 180 and 200cm sizes together.

Compared with the arches and windows at 180 x 105cm

Seven mirrors share this size and all cost £309.95 to £369.95. The Gentle Arch and Arched at £309.95 add a curve, shallow or full, in black or gold. The four window designs, Lattice Window, Window Pane, Arched Window and Arched Lattice Window, add a grid and the black-frame-gold-bars two-tone for £319.95 to £369.95. This is the one with no curve and no grid, and the only one in gold alone. Buy it when the room has its features already and the wall wants a window.

Two-person delivery, arrival and returns

Dispatched within one working day from UK stock and delivered in two to seven working days on a two-person service, to your door and into a ground-floor room where the route allows; free to mainland UK, offshore postcodes quoted by email. The carton is a little over 105cm wide and travels on its long edge, so measure the half landing and stair headroom for an upstairs room; the guide to moving a large mirror covers the carry. One carton: the mirror with its hanging hardware fitted and the safety backing behind the glass, no plugs, screws or strap. Open it the day it arrives with the carton upright and someone steadying it, check the glass edge to edge and the four corners of the frame, and photograph anything cracked, chipped or marked with the carton and the label within 24 hours; a replacement is dispatched free and the damaged one stays with you. Change of mind is 14 days, unused and in its packaging, at your carriage cost. The delivery and returns pages have the detail, and every mirror we sell is on the full length mirrors page.

FAQ

Questions about this mirror

Why is the Rectangular 180 x 105cm only available in gold?

The maker builds this size in gold alone. A plain straight frame at 1.89 square metres in black would read as a dark slab; in satin champagne-gold it reads as a warm line. For a plain wide mirror in black, the Window Pane 180 x 105cm with its few large panes is the nearest; the Rectangular 160 x 60cm comes in both colours.

Can I hang it landscape over a sofa?

The hardware is fitted for portrait and the maker's listing for this size does not specify landscape, unlike the Rectangular 160 x 60cm and the Frameless 200 x 120cm. Email us before ordering if landscape is the plan and we will ask the maker.

Is 105cm wide enough for two people?

Yes, square to the glass and side by side. Hung with the bottom edge 20cm up it shows anyone to about 205cm head to toe. It needs a clear wall a little over a metre wide, which rules out most hallways.

How do I hang a 27.5kg plain frame level?

Mark both hanging points with a level, hang with two people, sight the 105cm top edge against the ceiling line before tightening. Into timber studs (the points usually straddle two), a batten, or brick with two rated plugs and screws; never cavity anchors at this weight.

Will the gold tarnish?

No. It is pigment in a powder coat baked onto steel, with no bare metal to react with the air. Wipe it with a dry or barely damp cloth, nothing abrasive. Against pure white the satin gold drifts towards warm silver; against colour it reads as gold.

What happens if it arrives damaged?

Photograph the damage, the carton and the label and email us within 24 hours. A replacement is dispatched free and you keep the damaged one for disposal rather than posting glass back. Check the glass and all four frame corners on the day it arrives.
